Grant Speed's "Night Herdin' Sculpture now has a Permanent Home KCSG TV By Trina Cobbley ST GEORGE, UT - A special recognition ceremony was held Friday for Grant Speed's "Night Herdin" sculpture. The bronze sculpture is now a part of the city's permanent art collection. Grant has received numerous awards, including a Gold Medal for sculpture in the Cowboy Artists of American Show and the coveted Prix de West Award from the National Academy of Western Art. The sculpture was first brought to St. George on loan for a year. It was one of the Art Around the Corner's outdoor exhibits at Main Street Plaza sponsored by DATS Trucking in the heart of the St. George Historic District. After a generous donation of $60,000 from Greg and Arlynn Kemp and a $30,000 dollar contribution from the City of St. George, the sculpture is now a permanent fixture. This piece of art is located in front of Vantage Strategies at 94 East, Tabernacle street, for all to enjoy. |
